GENDER, DIVERSITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE IN CONTEMPORARY LATIN AMERICA

This 4 weeks long program aims to introduce students into the current social, cultural and political agenda of gender, diversity and social justice in the Latin America. As a  multi- disciplinary program, it focuses on the historical and political processes to understand social and cultural complexity related to gender and diversity of the region and the political strategies developed by different social actors, such as women, feminist and LGBT movements to achieve their political goals to generate cultural and social changes. Through the seminar, offered in English, students will analyze the context in which these social-political movements emerged, how they developed and articulated demands and strategies, and what issues are still unresolved what issues are still unresolved in the region. The program will also focus on the social constructions of around Latin American masculinities (“machismo”) and sexual political dimensions across the Americas.

Presence in Buenos Aires is subject to regulations of the Argentine National Government regarding the opening of borders in the context of COVID-19.

Experiential Learning

FLACSO Argentina have made an innovative jump to a new stage in international education through a program of Experiential Learning. This program includes the multiple cultural activities such as Argentine Family Welcome dinner and other family activities, Walking tour in the city, Cocucrricular activities, Weekend Trip (two nights), Field Trip (a day), Guest Speakers, Farewell Activities, etc. The activities will be scheduled and organized depending on availability.
